Psychology (ABPP). She is also a certified Cognitive
Therapist, as well as a Fellow of the Academy of
Cognitive Therapy (ACT). Dr. Stroup obtained her
education and training in psychology in the United
States, culminating in her Doctorate in Clinical
Psychology from Alliant International University.
Dr. Emel Stroup, ABPP, ACT

Dr. Stroup currently practices as a clinician heading the
Cognitive Therapy Unit at Humanite Psikiyatri. At the
same time she offers supervision, training, workshops,
and consultation in clinical psychology and cognitive
therapy. Dr. Stroup is also the founder of CBTiSTANBUL
Host and Organizing Committee Chair

Cognitive Therapy, Training and Research center, where she continues her clinical
work with patients and educational efforts with mental health professionals.
Dr. Stroup's principle training and supervision goals are to help advance the
establishment and practice of general clinical psychotherapy, as well as to help instill
superior levels of skills and clinical competence among practitioners of scientific,
evidence-based, and clinically competent Beckian Cognitive Therapy. Dr. Stroup's
educational and supervision programs are intended to aid Turkish therapists to acquire
the qualifications enabling them to be certified by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy.

Welcome to CBTiSTANBUL Workshops!

Graduating in 2007 with a bachelor degree in psychology from Hacettepe University and
2010 from the Clinical Psychology masters program at Okan University, Tuba Erzan is a
member of the Board of the Bursa branch of the Turkish Psychology Association, and is
currently Dr. Stroup's assistant. At the same time, within the structure of CBTiSTANBUL
she continues to effect national and international efforts of this organization on behalf of
Cognitive Therapy.

Irem graduated with a degree in psychology from Haliç University in 2007. During her university
studies, she worked as an intern at the Rüzgar Therapy Center, RTS Dialysis Center, French La
Paix Psychiatric Hospital, and the Psychiatric Sciences Branch of the Marmara University Medical
Faculty. From August 2007 to August 2008, she worked as a psychologist at the Bizim Çocuk
Rehabilitation Center. In 2009, she completed her masters degree in Clinical Psychology at Okan
University. She is currently also a founding member of the CBTiSTANBUL working group.
İrem Pişgin, M.A. Clinical Psychologist

Esra Savaş Kaplan graduated in 2007 from the Koç University Arts and Science Faculty’s social
oncology at the Istanbul University Medical Çapa Faculty’s Oncology Institute. During this period
she has obtained training in Cognitive Therapy, as well. From July 2007 to February 2008 she
worked as a psychologist at the SHCEK Bahçelievler Family Counseling and Rehabilitation Center,
as well as at the Özel Canım Special Education School from May to October of 2008. Presently she
is preparing her masters thesis, and continues to take a supervision as a therapist. Moreover, she
also undertakes various projects on behalf of Cognitive Therapy, and is a member of the
CBTiSTANBUL working group.

Hilal ORHAN Psikolog Committee Coordinator
|
Hilal is a graduate of the Arts and Sciences Faculty of Istanbul Bilgi University. She is
currently enrolled in the Clinical Psychology Masters Program of the Okan University’s
Social Sciences Institute, where she is pursuing her training in Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy. While obtaining her bachelor degree, she served internships at the Erenkoy
Mental Health Hospital and at Memorial Hospital, as well as voluntary work with various
local organizations. Since July of 2010 she has been Dr. Stroup’s assistant
coordinating training and supervision in Cognitive Therapy, in addition to other duties
related to clinical psychology and Cognitive Therapy. At the same time she is the
principle coordinator for the national and international Cognitive Therapy training
workshops sponsored by Dr. Stroup’s clinic, CBTiSTANBUL.
Gülçin Tatoğlu is currently studying in the Psychology Department of Okan University. In
2008, she began working as a coordinator for Dr. Stroup's training programs, and
continues in that position today. Gülçin is also a key founding member of the
CBTiSTANBUL working group.
Ms. Dağyaran graduated from Robert College and got her B.A. degree in Clinical
Psychology from Tufts University in Boston, MA. During her internship at an outpatient
clinic in Boston, she participated in the group therapies of substance addiction and
other mental illnesses as an observer. She returned to Turkey in 2005, and was
admitted to the Masters Program in Clinical Psychology in Bilgi University, where she
graduated in 2007. During her internship as a master’s student, she worked in the
Consultation-Liaison Department of Cerrahpaşa University Faculty of Medicine, the
Psychological Counselling Department in Bilgi University, and in Mor Çatı Women’s

Shelter. After graduation she worked with adolescents in ABC Child and Family Counselling Center. In 2010, she
started a new internship in the Consultation-Liaison Department of Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine. Currently
she is working with Dr. Emel Stroup and is participating in the CBTiSTANBUL organization’s projects related to
Cognitive Therapy.
