Dr. Emel Stroup is pleased to announce that Dr. Judith S. Beck will
present a talk, entitled "The Argument for Cognitive Therapy," to the
community of mental health professionals in Istanbul and Turkey.

The talk will take place at 8:00 pm on Wednesday, 28 May 2008, at
the Marmara Hotel – Istanbul, in Taksim Square.

We are very pleased to announce that Prof. Dr. Mehmet Z. Sungur,
President of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Association, has
kindly agreed to act as the Honorary Chairman for Dr. Judith Beck's
talk. We are proud to have Dr. Sungur's and the Association's
participation.

Seating has been filled.

This event is intended solely to inform the Turkish community of
mental health professionals about Cognitive Therapy. Dr. Beck and
Dr. Stroup are providing their time without any financial
compensation. Registration fees will meet only the administrative
costs of the event.

Registration has been closed.

Translation into Turkish will be conducted.

Who is Dr. Beck?

Judith S. Beck, Ph.D., is the Director of the Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy and Research in
suburban Philadelphia and Clinical Associate Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry at the University
of Pennsylvania where she teaches psychiatry residents. She received her doctoral degree from the
University of Pennsylvania in 1982.

Dr. Beck directs the three major functions of the Beck Institute: education, clinical care, and research.
She currently divides her time between administration, supervision and teaching, clinical work,
program development, research and writing. She is a consultant for several NIMH research studies
and often presents workshops nationally and internationally on Cognitive Therapy for a wide variety of
psychiatric disorders. She is the author of the widely adopted textbook, Cognitive Therapy: Basics
and Beyond, which has been translated into 12 languages, and Cognitive Therapy for Challenging
Problems: What to Do When the Basics Don't Work, published by Guilford Press. Her latest book is
The Beck Diet Solution, released in April of 2007. An editor of The Oxford Textbook of Psychotherapy
and a co-author of Cognitive Therapy of Personality Disorders, she has written numerous articles and
chapters on various applications of Cognitive Therapy. Dr. Beck also developed the Beck Youth
InventoriesTM with Aaron. T. Beck, M.D. Dr. Judith S. Beck is a Distinguished Founding Fellow and
President of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy.

Who is Dr. Stroup?

DR. EMEL STROUP, Amerikan Profesyonel Psikoloji Kurulu tarafından (American Board of
Professional Psychology, ABPP) belgeli Klinik Psikologtur. Dr. Stroup, sertifikalı uzman kognitif
terapist ve prestijli bir kuruluş olan Kognitif Terapi Akademisinin Fellow üyesidir.

Dr. Stroup Lisans eğitimini  San Jose State üniversitesinde; Klinik Psikoloji doktorasını da, Alliant
International üniversitesinde tamamlamıştır.

Amerikan Klinik Psikoloji Akademisi’nin de bir Fellow üyesi, ayrıca Amerikan Psikoloji Derneği’nin ve
Türk Psikologlar Derneği'nin  üyesidir.

Dr. Stroup halen Sedat Özkan Psikiyatrik Tıp Merkezinde klinisyen olarak çalışmakta, klinik ve kognitif
terapi alanında supervizyon, eğitim, seminer ve Ruh sağlığı alanında çalışan meslektaşlarına
